Have you been stressing over your Facebook business page?

When you visit a Facebook page and it only has 10, 20 or 30 likes  does it encourage you to work with them.  No it doesn’t! The like button acts as a credibility button to visitors, all though anyone that’s been on the other side as a page creator knows that even if you have a loyal following it doesn’t mean they’re going to press the Like button.

It’s time to be proactive and resolve your Facebook issues, give yourself the credibility you deserve .  It’s not just the credibility aspect either, there is also the issue of EdgeRank algorithm to take into consideration.

– Affinity + edge weight + age = effectiveness on Facebook
– Clever use of how active conversations are (rather than static likes)
– affinity
– Popularity of your content that is clicked on (video, photos, links) –
edge weight
– When your Facebook connections are on/active (time wise) and
post fresh content then – time decay.

Easier said then done I know! You can’t pester your clients or your friends.  So lets form a network of proactive businesses supporting each other, giving each other a kick-start.

If you want to be involved you can either click the Like button on my WordPress page and leave your Facebook link in the comments section for me to like back and when anyone else visits if you like all the pages listed in the comments section too. When visiting their page paste: I found you from Startersphere’s blog. Great page! http://www.facebook.com/…….. (add your facebook page link). You have to like business pages  with your personal Facebook account or it doesn’t register. If you see the above message on your page you must reciprocate the like.

Remember these are just static likes all though important, alone it’s not enough.  So lets start engaging with each other via our Facebook business pages liking each others comments, status photo’s etc this will all aid our shared goal. It does encourage other people to like your comments too.

My Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/startersphere if you want to leave your link first and reciprocate after I’ve liked yours that’s fine. Think of the benefit of your Facebook page link being on numerous other business pages heightening the odds of page engagement and possible business.

Come on get involved or if you have any questions or worries talk to me. Or email me your links startersphere@gmail.com

Social Media Survey Analysis

Social Media Survey

I am studying for a CIM in social media and would really appreciate your support with completing a survey. I can’t wait to see the results, I am trying to establish which social media platforms are the main focus, how long people have been using them, how frequently updated. Whether social media users research first and outline a clear strategy before engaging, what methodology is proving most beneficial in expanding networks and which platforms have shown the best results.
Thank you for your support and I can’t wait to hear your opinions.

CIM Report Shows Many Marketers are Ill-equipped for the Social Web

A Marketer in a Digital World

CIM SMB Report - how are marketers using social media?

The UK’s Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) recently teamed up with Ipsos ASI and Bloomberg to carry out new research to assess how businesses are adapting to our social media fuelled world.

The results appear largely consistent with previous studies, although do provide a valuable benchmark for comparison with other data sources. And while many of the findings were focussed on adoption and usage patterns across four big social networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube), the most interesting statistics came from marketers’ self-assessment of the value their businesses derive from social media efforts:

  • Only 27% of marketers use social media as a “core part of a campaign”, yet 28% claim to still be “just experimenting.”
  • Across all of the major channels, more people claim their social media activities are ‘not at all effective’ than ‘extremely effective,’ with YouTube being seen as the channel where being effective is most problematic.
  • Most…

From PinClout to PinReach: The Startup for Pinterest Analytics

PinReach or the startup formerly known as PinClout specializes in analyzing the up-and-coming rise of Pinterest. While the whole name “cease-and-desist” issue with Klout over the use of PinClout has been the major talk of the industry for now, PinReach LLC is still a very much viable startup that aims to become the analytics startup to go to for Pinterest. The original name boiled down what they did in more simple terms which is basically to see your clout in Pinterest but PinReach LLC is still a good name as it offers a simplified look at your overall Pinterest social media reach.

Founded by Chris Fay and Daniel Schimpfoessl, PinReach intends to become the Google Analytics for Pinterest. Pinterest’s marketing potential is one of the highest compared to some of the other new social media platforms and so far such tools for Pinterest analytics are almost non-existant. Originally, PinClout garnered more than 6000 users within two weeks of opening but with PinReach they are set to forge new ground even faster with a more robust infrastructure. According to their main site, “PinReach is your source for Pinterest analytics. We are working to empower people and brands with the tools necessary to monitor trends, understand activity, and gauge impact, easily. That, and you get a Reach score updated daily!”PinReach covers the overall statistics of Pinterest, identi

fying your main influencers, how you influence others, trends and social impact with a simple to understand single Reach score for each section. It checks referral links like Google Analytics but also monitors your daily stats, providing analysis on the impact of your pins, repins and the pins of your fans and followers that point back to your main site. It also offers the ability to check on your competition with built-in functions such as Compete. All you need to do is enter your competitors Pinterest username and you can get a look at their PinReach score. The statistics are presented using simple graphs and numbers in bold font for the relevant scores with the average PinReach score being 29.
