In a recent discussion with a web developer and SEO expert who is considering enhancing their social media offering. They highlighted that one of their key concerns, or rather their clients, is that by having a social media presence they leave themselves open to public negativity. They fear having complaints or criticism written directly on their social media sites.

Every business will have complaints some unfounded others genuine errors. Regardless of why complaints occur avoiding a social media presence will not prevent viral complaints. It will just prevent you being privy to it and engaging damage control. Often you can gain a heightened respect and trust in your service from others witnessing your swift reaction and compensation of the upset party. A good example of this is Zappo’s who use their customer complaints as a foundation of their business. There is an article discussing Zappos Twitter skills link here. BA Expat

We’ve all heard stories about the workaholic corporate-type with no personal life, or the driven entrepreneur with a singular focus on business. New thing #4 go to a motivational talk

Fantastic story!

my101newthings

Today, being International Women’s Day, I decided to attend a motivational conference in the Newcastle Hilton in honour of the occasion. Organised by the Entrepreneurs Forum, it was called ‘Achieve,’ and the day was aimed at female entrepreneurs and corporate business women looking for insights, inspiration and a chance to meet like minded individuals.

How you deal with challenges and grow from them is what makes you stand out. Speakers ranged from the founder of confused.com, the person who brought St.Tropez fake tan to the UK, the first female rally car driver in the world, to Kirsty. Kirsty was the first person on the last series of the popular BBC programme Dragon’s Den. Aged only 26, Kirsty has overcome adversity to achieve on a truly epic scale. Honest…

Firstly I have read a great guide on blogging and blog marketing from Hector J Cuevas that has a lot of really useful advice and tips on every relevant aspect. I now have to apologise Hector for not putting all your great advice in to practice yet, I am at such an early stage in my blogging journey and in the mood to write with out all the sensible preparation. Seeing as I have no audience I could just as well have written this on a piece of paper in my front room. I must add I have every intention of implementing all the advice one step at a time to fully analyse the results.

I have to now mention BA…
