How to apply business principles for a better personal life

BA Expat

We’ve all heard stories about the workaholic corporate-type with no personal life, or the driven entrepreneur with a singular focus on business. But in reality, there’s a lot we can learn from the business world – ideas, practices, and philosophies that can be applied to lead an easier, more fulfilling, and more productive life.

I have a few favorites that I’ve raided from my entrepreneurial war chest and implemented successfully in my day-to-day routine. Follow along as we transform boring corporate jargon into Zen-like awesomeness.

New thing #4 go to a motivational talk

Fantastic story!

my101newthings

Today, being International Women’s Day, I decided to attend a motivational conference in the Newcastle Hilton in honour of the occasion. Organised by the Entrepreneurs Forum, it was called ‘Achieve,’ and the day was aimed at female entrepreneurs and corporate business women looking for insights, inspiration and a chance to meet like minded individuals.

A recurring theme of the day was that success is achieved only through experiencing and overcoming failure, sometimes on a regular basis. How you deal with challenges and grow from them is what makes you stand out. Speakers ranged from the founder of confused.com, the person who brought St.Tropez fake tan to the UK, the first female rally car driver in the world, to Kirsty. Kirsty was the first person on the last series of the popular BBC programme Dragon’s Den. Aged only 26, Kirsty has overcome adversity to achieve on a truly epic scale. Honest…

I’m A Startup — Why Am I Being Inundated With Cloud Providers?

Entrepreneurs: a Source of Expertise and Inspiration

Gigaom

We at GigaOM believe entrepreneurs are more than a source for news — they are a source of expertise and inspiration. Expertise and inspiration that should be shared as far and wide as possible. After all, many ideas that work for a small, sleep-deprived team in a company that is keeping a vigilant eye on its burn rate will not only work for your team, but they can help you be more nimble and effective.

Rather, we sit down with startup founders and other entrepreneurs and find out how they run different aspects of their companies so that we can pass that firsthand knowledge on to you.

In our inaugural…

BA Expat

In my first post of this series, I wrote about some common myths that stop would-be entrepreneurs. This post outlines how to make a list of potential product ideas, determine which one is best, and get the ball rolling on finding a supplier.

Since you’re reading a blog post about starting your own business, we’ve already established that you aren’t satisfied with hate your job because:

  • your boss is an idiot
  • you don’t get paid enough
  • you work too many hours
  • you’re underappreciated
  • you’re bored
  • all of the above

I’m going to give you a crash course in idea generation and product development. It’s not the risky, dark art that “they” want you to think it is – once you know the key steps and some good tools, it’s as easy as…dealing with China.

Outsource Manufacturing Company ‘Enphase’ To Expand Headquarters In Pealuma

SoshiTech - Soshitech.com

The company Enphase raised more than twenty million dollars from Angel Investors to launch their new product on the global market . This is an optimal time to raise awareness of their IPO since the launch of Facebook has taken a large share of the original market.

Their original investment was an upfront payment which was set to add to the cost of microinverters, the key to making them go global and popularize them amongst the online community, thus reaching a larger audience.

The company, which was found in two thousand and six, is the creator of microinverters. A microinferter is able to measure the direct current which when stored inside solar panels will feed power grids.

The design has been labeled controversial as an ineffective way to track, improve and pin point power output solar displays. Over ten percent of sales have come from Canada while a large amount…
